Buyers and Sellers at a Stalemate: Who will blink first??

Now that we're in March of the new year the real estate story for 2023 is already beginning to take shape. If it had a headline it might be "who will win the real estate staring contest? The buyers or the sellers?". What I mean by this is sellers are waiting for buyers to reenter the market in a significant way and buyers are waiting for sellers to flood the market forcing prices to go down. Two months down into the year and so far neither side is budging.
